Why cloud consulting

The cloud is powerful. It's also easy to overspend on.

Moving to the cloud is one of the best things most businesses can do. You stop buying and babysitting your own servers. You can grow in minutes instead of weeks. You only pay for what you use — at least, that's the promise. The reality is often messier. Setups drift, unused resources keep running, and the monthly bill quietly climbs until someone finally asks why.

Most of the pain isn't the cloud's fault. It comes from setups that were rushed, copied from a tutorial, or sold by someone with a reason to make them bigger than they need to be. The tool is fine. The advice around it is where things go wrong. A well-planned cloud is fast, safe and predictable. A poorly planned one is slow, leaky and expensive — and you often don't notice until the invoice arrives.

That's where we come in. At Scorpyns, we give honest cloud consulting across AWS, Azure and Google Cloud. We build and run our own products in the cloud, so we know what it costs to keep something reliable for years, not just to launch it. We have no reseller deal pushing us toward one provider or a bigger bill. Our only job is to get you a cloud that fits — right-sized, secure and easy to understand.

What we do

Choose it, move to it, run it well.

— 01

Cloud strategy & choice

Not sure whether to use AWS, Azure or Google Cloud — or whether to move at all? We look at your real needs and give a clear, unbiased recommendation you can act on.

— 02

Cloud migration

Moving from your own servers or from another cloud. We plan it in stages, test on a copy first, and switch over with little or no downtime that your users would notice.

— 03

Cloud architecture

The blueprint for how your systems run — networking, storage, databases and scaling designed to stay fast and reliable as you grow, without gold-plating.

— 04

Cost optimisation

A cloud bill that keeps climbing usually can be cut. We right-size resources, remove waste and use cheaper pricing where it fits — without hurting performance.

— 05

Cloud security

Access rules, encryption, backups and a proper check against the provider's own guidance. We close the simple gaps that cause most cloud breaches.

— 06

Ongoing management

Once you're live, we can keep it healthy — monitoring, updates and cost reviews. Pair it with our DevOps services for full delivery.

What's always included

The important things are never extra.

A low headline price often hides charges for the basics. With us, everything below comes with every cloud engagement — as standard.

  • Honest, vendor-neutral advice — no reseller deal quietly steering you to a bigger bill.
  • A clear review of your setup — we map what you have and where it's leaking money or risk.
  • Right-sizing — every resource matched to real usage, so you never pay for idle capacity.
  • Cost estimates up front — a realistic monthly figure before you commit, not a surprise later.
  • Secure by default — least-privilege access, encryption and backups built in from the start.
  • Infrastructure as code — your setup written down and repeatable, not clicked together by hand.
  • Multi-cloud fluency — AWS, Azure or Google Cloud, whichever genuinely fits you best.
  • Built to scale — it copes with a quiet week and a busy launch day without you touching it.
  • Monitoring & alerts — you find out about a problem or a cost spike before your customers do.
  • Clear documentation — how it's built and how it runs, written so your team can follow it.
  • You own everything — the accounts, the settings and the code stay yours, handed over cleanly.
  • Support after handover — we're still here when you need a fix, a review or a new plan.
Why Scorpyns

Advice you can actually trust.

Plenty of firms will happily set up your cloud. Fewer will tell you when you're about to spend money you don't need to. We're not a reseller and we don't earn more when your bill grows — so the advice you get from us is the advice we'd give ourselves.

We run our own cloud, at scale. Scorpyns builds and hosts its own products, including systems that serve real users every day. So when we suggest an architecture, it comes from living with the cost and the reliability of it — not from a slide deck.

Right-sizing, not upselling. Our instinct is to make things smaller, cleaner and cheaper wherever we safely can. A tidy cloud is easier to run, easier to secure and far kinder to your budget.

Remote-first, worldwide. Cloud lives online, so we can review, migrate and manage yours from anywhere. We work with startups and established companies across time zones, keep everything written down, and speak plainly — no jargon, no talking down to you.

How it works

From first call to a cloud that fits.

01

Discovery call

Tell us what you run today and what's bothering you — cost, speed, security or a move you're planning. We listen and give honest advice, free.

02

Review & plan

We map your current setup, find the risks and the waste, and turn it into a clear plan with one fixed price and a timeline, all in writing.

03

Design

We design the target architecture — right-sized, secure and written as code — and walk you through it before anything changes.

04

Build & migrate

We build the new setup, test it on a copy, then migrate in careful stages with a clear way to roll back if needed.

05

Optimise & support

Once you're live we tune cost and performance, set up monitoring, hand over docs, and stay on for reviews and fixes.

Tools we use

Proven cloud tech, used well.

We work fluently across the big three clouds and the standard tools that keep infrastructure portable, repeatable and safe — and we pick the right one for your job, not our habit.

Cloud, explained plainly

What you're really deciding.

Cloud decisions get wrapped in jargon and brand names until they feel harder than they are. Underneath, you're really answering a few plain questions: which cloud, how to move, how to keep it secure, and how to stop it costing more than it should. Here's how we think about each one, in words a business owner can act on.

Choosing between AWS, Azure and Google Cloud

All three are excellent. For most workloads, any of them will do the job well, so the "best" cloud is the one that fits you. If your team already lives in Microsoft tools, Azure often feels natural. If you want the widest range of services and the deepest ecosystem, AWS is a safe default. If data and analytics are central to what you do, Google Cloud is strong there. As an AWS and Azure consultant with no reseller bias, we compare them honestly against your real needs — and if you're already on one, we make it work rather than push a switch you don't need.

Cloud migration, done in stages

The scary part of moving to the cloud is the fear of breaking what already works. We remove that fear by never doing it all at once. We copy your systems into a safe test space, prove the new setup behaves, and move real traffic in careful stages — starting with the low-risk parts. Every step has a clear way back. For a lot of systems, your users never notice the switch happened. Where a short pause can't be avoided, we plan it, warn you, and keep it tiny.

Cost optimisation and right-sizing

A surprising cloud bill almost always comes from the same handful of causes: machines sized far bigger than the work needs, resources left running when nobody's using them, storage nobody remembers, and paying full on-demand price for things you could reserve or commit to at a discount. Right-sizing means matching every resource to its real usage — no more, no less. We measure what you actually use, cut the waste, pick the cheaper pricing options where they fit, and set up alerts so a spike gets caught in a day, not at the end of the month. Often the savings pay for the work several times over.

Cloud security that covers the basics first

Most cloud breaches aren't clever attacks — they're simple mistakes left in place. A storage bucket set to public. An access key with far more power than it needs. A database reachable from the whole internet. No backups when something goes wrong. We start by closing those common gaps: least-privilege access, encryption on by default, network rules that only open what must be open, and backups you've actually tested. Then we check the whole setup against the cloud provider's own security guidance, so you know where you stand.

Avoiding lock-in

Lock-in is when your setup is so tied to one provider's own services that leaving would be painful and costly. Some tie-in is fine — a managed database can be well worth it. But we're careful not to build you into a corner by accident. We lean on open, standard tools like containers and infrastructure-as-code wherever they make sense, so your cloud could move if it ever had to. You keep the freedom to change your mind.

Real, shipped work

We don't just talk — we ship.

From an AI study platform built to scale for many learners to public-facing systems people use every day, we've designed, deployed and run real cloud infrastructure — and kept the bills honest. Proof beats promises.

Questions

Cloud questions, answered simply.

Which cloud should I use — AWS, Azure or Google Cloud?

It depends on your business, not on which name is loudest. AWS, Azure and Google Cloud can all run almost anything well, so the right choice comes down to what you already use, what your team knows, and where the real costs land for your workload. We look at all three with no bias, explain the trade-offs in plain words, and help you pick the one that fits. If you are already on one of them, we work with what you have.

How much does cloud consulting cost?

It depends on what you need. A short review of your current setup costs far less than a full migration or an ongoing management arrangement. After a free call we give you one clear price for a defined piece of work, so you know the cost before anything starts. There are no hidden charges later. In most cases the savings we find on your cloud bill more than cover the fee. You can see how our pricing works.

Can you move our systems to the cloud without downtime?

In most cases, yes. We plan the migration in stages, test everything on a copy first, and move the riskiest parts in a quiet window with a clear way to roll back. For many systems we can switch over with little or no downtime that your users would notice. Where a short pause is unavoidable, we tell you in advance and keep it as small as possible.

Our cloud bill keeps growing — can you bring it down?

Very often, yes. A rising bill usually means the setup is over-sized, left running when idle, or paying full price for things that could be reserved. We right-size your resources, shut down what is not needed, use cheaper pricing options where they fit, and set up alerts so cost never surprises you again. We aim to cut the bill without cutting the performance you rely on.

Is the cloud secure?

The cloud can be very secure, but it is not automatic. Most problems come from simple mistakes — open storage, weak access rules, or missing backups — not from the cloud itself. We lock down who can reach what, turn on encryption, set up proper backups, and check your setup against the provider's own security advice. You get a clear picture of your risks and a plan to fix them.

Do you work with international and remote clients?

Yes. We are a remote-first team and we work with startups and established companies anywhere in the world. Cloud work suits remote delivery perfectly — the infrastructure lives online, so we can review, migrate and manage it from wherever we are. We keep communication clear and written down, and we set regular calls at a time that suits your time zone.

Do we get locked in to one cloud provider?

Not with us. We design your setup so that as much of it as possible uses open, standard tools that could move elsewhere if you ever needed to. We are honest about the few places where a provider's own service is worth the tie-in and the many where it is not. You own every account and every setting, and you are always free to take your cloud in another direction.

What happens after the migration is done?

We do not disappear once you are live. Cloud infrastructure needs ongoing care — updates, monitoring, security checks and cost reviews as you grow. You own everything, and if you want, we stay on to run and improve it, or hand it cleanly to your own team with documentation. Either way you are never stuck depending on us.
